Ms. Boomgaarden's New Opportunity |
Dear OAYO Musicians and Families,
It is with mixed emotions that I share with you that Associate Conductor, Jennifer Boomgaarden, will be leaving OAYO to accept the position of executive director with the South Dakota Symphony in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. For eleven years, Jennifer has been a great colleague, wonderful friend and crucial partner in growing OAYO into the strong and vibrant organization that it is today. I have been continually inspired by her creativity and commitment to OAYO and will truly miss Jennifer’s enthusiasm and passion for music education.
Please be assured there will be no interruption in the OAYO programs overseen by Jennifer. As the season begins we will be sharing with you the names and qualifications of our interim conductors, and keep you apprised of the process for the search for a permanent replacement. While someone as wonderful as Jennifer can’t be replaced, we are confident that we will find a new Associate Conductor who will be an excellent musician and caring educator.
We will be holding a going away celebration for Jennifer in the near future. Details of the event will be forthcoming. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me at 561-0236 if you have any questions.
Those of you who have worked with Ms. Boomgaarden know the profound effect her musicality, professionalism and care for each individual student has had on your life. I know everyone in OAYO will join me in saying a tearful “goodbye” to Jennifer, and wish her the best in her new adventure.
