Step 4 - Review & Prepare
Read the preparation document found here.
For 2021-2022, most parts of the preparation document are still relevant, especially the tips from the music director. Remember, no ensembles will require excerpts or sight-reading for 2021-2022
For 2021-2022, the solo and scale parts of the rubric are accurate. Please disregard the sight-reading and excerpt portions.
1.prepare two short solo pieces (1-2) min each on two different percussion instruments of your choice
2. prepare one major and one minor scale on a mallet instrument of your choice.
3. play an A on the instrument and then sing the same pitch. The singing doesn’t have to sound nice, it just should be the same pitch.
If you don’t have access to instruments because of COVID-19 restrictions:
1. a demonstration of all rudiments you know on a drum pad
2. find an A from a metronome or an app and sing it (the singing doesn’t have to sound nice, it just should be the same pitch)
For 2021-2022: musicians do not need to prepare an excerpt for any ensemble.
